Amy Stargher is a carioca from Rio de Janeiro — born in Morro de Santa Teresa, at the feet of Christ the Redeemer, and raised in a family of artist grandparents, journalist uncles, and a lawyer father (who also appeared on TV as a child). She has always been tuned in to the arts, communication and human rights. From her teenage years, she began her musical adventures in the underground scene of the Marvelous City, performing at alternative spots like Saloon 79, Audio Rebel and Bar do B.
Destiny pushed her toward FACHA's Film School, where she built up the technique and experience to produce promotional media for up-and-coming bands and short films.
In 2015 she decided to run a musical experiment abroad and started playing in the NY subway. Enchanted by the way New Yorkers consume art, this rock devotee decided to invest her cultural streak in the fantastic, contagious Big Apple.
And so Amy set out to overcome the hurdles of immigration, extending her stay in America carried by music — performing shows with her band Trapped in Static, at the Montauk Music Festival, the TCS NYC Marathon and Arlene's Grocery.
In parallel, she also hosted karaoke nights with her events company Stargher Art, in restaurants and nightclubs across New Jersey and New York — always packed, before the COVID-19 pandemic.
Even in times of social isolation, Amy never stops creating: she registered as an artist on Patreon, where partner donations support her sharing of musical knowledge in a collection of making-of clips from her shows, video recordings and live performances, accompanied by handmade gifts tied to her career.
